Dentistry Program.

The first dental section was part of the Otorhinolaryngology department, with Professor Tseden as a department head, and was recruited with 30 paramedics from 18 Mongolian provinces. They were instructed by Tserendulam Ch, one of the first five dentists. This was a foundation for the development of Mongolian dentistry. The heads of the department were Prof. Selee D, Norovpil Ts, and Associate Prof. Tsolmon Kh. After that, the Department of Oral Medicine was expanded into the Oral Medicine Research Center, which includes three departments: Operative Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, and Orthodontics, following Prof. Lkhagvasuren.Ts, the president of MNUMS in 1995. 

The School of Dentistry offers an exciting six-year program leading to the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.  Our commitment through our learning and social environment is to ensure that our graduating Doctors of Dental Surgery are life long learners, socially responsible, compassionate, ethical, and passionate about delivering oral health care to their respective communities. 

Dental Technician Training Program.
     A dental technician specialist possesses a high level of expertise in creating both removable and fixed dentures, orthodontic instruments, and prostheses to address teeth and dental arch defects, as well as issues arising from maxillofacial disorders within the population. They are skilled at collaborating within a team of experts in the field of oral and maxillofacial science and exhibit excellent communication and a positive attitude. The Dental school, MNUMS is the sole institution dedicated to training dental technicians. Its official training program was initiated in 1961. The program encompasses a total of 95 credit hours of training and has successfully obtained accreditation twice from the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation.


Oral Hygienist Training Program
     An oral hygienist is a professional who is proficient in delivering a wide range of services aimed at preventing oral diseases within the population. Their responsibilities include controlling dental plaques, performing professional dental cleanings, educating individuals on oral hygiene techniques, and preventing tooth decay. The program was first established in 2009. Oral hygienists receive their training through an associate degree program, which encompasses a total of 101 credit hours of instruction. Since the inception of this training program, more than 70 qualified oral hygienists have been successfully trained.
