Department of restorative dentistry

The Department Dentistry was expanded into the Dental Center, which includes three departments: Operative Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontic and Orthodontic department, in accordance with the president Lkhagvasuren Ts. of Mongolian National Medical University's directive, A/61, dated November 28, 1995. Therefore, the Operative dentistry department was established in 1995 with Oyunbat B. as head of the department and 7 professors. Current staff members of the Restrotave dentistry department are Urjinlkham J. (DDS., PhD) as a department head, associated professor, Batsuuri M. (DDS., MD) as a lecturer, Byambasoyol N. (DDS., MD) as a lecturer, Khongorzul Ts. (DDS., PhD) as an assistant lecturer, and Nyamsuren E. (DDS, PhD) as an assistant lecturer (2022-2023 year).

Aim: The Restorative dentistry department is to provide dental students with the best available evidence and technologies to achieve and maintain optimal patient oral care, comfort, function, and esthetics through risk-based diagnosis, prevention, and tooth-preserving management of carious and non-carious diseases, disorders, and conditions of the teeth.

Treatment and services include: Dental decay and developmental defects treatment; root canal treatment; periodontal disease; providing education on oral health; tooth whitening (bleaching) of discolored teeth; composite veneers; diastema closure; esthetic crown restoration using pin and post. In addition, our department collaborates with the Gyals Center, the National Center for Communicable Diseases, and the National Cancer Center to diagnose and treat oral pathological diseases.

Undergraduate program: The department of Restorative dentistry created 12 textbooks and 8 workbooks. Over 150 articles were published in international and domestic journals by professors and students.

Post-graduate program: General practice the 2-year residency program is intended to train general dentists in the management of medically complex and special-needs patients in both outpatient and hospital settings, as well as to increase knowledge of dentistry and its various disciplines. The aim of the Endodontology and Oral Pathology three-month training course for general dentists is to provide new methodology and materials in endodontology, diagnosis, and treatment planning of autoimmune oral diseases. We are also organizing postgraduate and three-month dental assistant courses.

Graduate program: The master's and doctoral programs in Restorative Dentistry provide our graduate students with the knowledge and skills needed for academic success in a balanced educational experience and supportive environment. With our extremely informed offline and online courses, we can develop outstanding researchers.
